Manifestation

The Oxford dictionary definition of manifestation is:

“An event, action, or thing that is a sign of something existing or happening, or the act of appearing as such a sign. It’s essentially a way of showing or making something visible or demonstrating the existence of something”.

We often hear about the process of “manifesting” our dreams into reality and there are many ideas and suggestions about how we can achieve our goals and wishes. As I have researched this concept, I have learned some interesting views and ideas about how we manifest.

Consider the times when you have wanted something in your future. A promotion at work, to meet your soul mate, to get the dream house. How have you communicated these “wants” or “wishes”?

In a previous blog I talk about how our thoughts, our words, our physical bodies are made up of energy, and this energy emits a vibrational force out into the environment. There are theories, in the spiritual community, that the state of wanting, or wishing, or hoping, carries with it a vibrational force. Think then about the idea that we attract what we are.

The vibration of wanting, wishing, hoping, attracts more of the same. To be more specific, if you wish you had the promotion at work, and every night you rehearse a pray in your head, wishing for this, you are attracting more of the state of wishing. This then leads to a perpetual state of wanting.

Manifestation is about becoming the change you hope to happen. How to do this includes experiencing the emotion of already having the reality. For example, if you want the promotion, or pay rise, or new house, by creating the mindset of gratitude that you are already in the new house or working in the new role you are manifesting.

This might seem like we are being asked to “pretend” something into reality. The way I understand it is if I am already in a state of abundance, that I have everything that I could ever need right now, I have shifted my mindset already. I don’t have to “assume” a future, whether that be a new job, or house move, or inheritance, rather I create the emotion of “having” of “receiving” right now.

I would put into action any steps that would improve my chances of getting the future I desire, because of course, there are certain goals in life that do require practical input. But I would keep my focus on the here and now, reminding myself that everything I could ever need is already here. I focus, often in meditation, on the gratitude that everything is how it is meant to be now, that I am on the right path already.  This state of being, vibration if you will, attracts that of abundance.

I remember years ago, I had a wish list, in a silver wish box, where I would write all the aspirations I had for the future ahead of me. This was before I realised that “wishing” placed me in a state of wanting/hoping. I was relinquishing my power to an external source, of an abstract idea that “fate” would answer my wishes/prayers.

As I continue my spiritual and emotional journey, I am learning to step back from an idea that if I achieve specific goals, I will be happier. I am consciously taking the time to give daily gratitude to every single aspect of my life. This includes the experiences that have not been pleasant because from them there is growth, healing and strength.

Manifestation is the ability to create our own reality, without access to an external source of power to seek permission for, ie praying, wishing, asking. The law of attraction underpins the principle of attracting the energy that matches your own. The more fulfilled we perceive our present moment to be, the more we attract more of this emotion. Think of the theory of positive thinking.  We will often use this phrase without much thought about the power of such a simple action.

I recognise that the reality of life, the ups, downs, traumas, and human suffering can leave us without faith. We can start to lose hope that we have autonomy over the direction of our lives. I can only speak from my experience, and I have had a life filled with trauma, leading to my diagnosis of Complex PTSD. Even with years of experiencing traumatic events, I learned to grow stronger in the face of adversity.

Over the last 12 months I have invested my time in the creation of this website, and by doing so, have developed a deep understanding of mindfulness, meditation, manifestations. I have chosen to alchemise my pain and in doing so, I have manifested success. I am so proud of the work I have put into all the blogs that I have written. Sometimes I read back the articles, and I don’t know where the words have come from!

What has been so powerful, is that the words that I create, which have always centred around the idea that happiness lives within, have led to rapid healing. This is evidence of the theory of manifestation! My ideas and thoughts have been put into words, onto my website, and this has brought life to them, given energy to all the ideas.

The opportunities that I have created for myself are endless! I have a beautiful website, where I can communicate to the world! I am manifesting healing every day, in thought, in written words, and in conversations. This is manifestation! I know that my purpose is to contribute to raising awareness of healing and recovery for those who suffer with mental health. In doing so, I am getting back what I am sending out into the world, healing.

I never thought I would recover from the events that have occurred in the last year of my life. They are probably the most catastrophic of my adult life, give or take. But somehow, I have tapped into a different source of strength and know now that this was and always has been my internal light source.

Sometimes in life, we are distracted by the judgement, opinions, and words of others and we allow these perceptions to cloud how we see ourselves. We can lose sight of who we are. I certainly did. Furthermore, I bought into the version of me that others held. But I have discarded these old belief systems, and I have finally recognised my light, the essence of me. I had to go through the darkest of times, to witness how bright my light is.

Manifestation is powerful and we are all creators. The world is our oyster! (unless you are allergic to fish)! Start to choose your words carefully, starting sentence with “I am” rather than “I wish”. Visualise how it feels to have what you are dreaming of, rather than how it feels to want. Words and thoughts are powerful and so are you! Bring to life everything you have ever wanted! Go forth, and manifest!
