Blogging Barbra

So I wrote to Barbra Streisand today.

I thought I’d drop her a line, she how she’s rocking. I had researched Complex PTSD to see if anyone famous had the affliction and found a whole list, including Babs. Now, I have always loved her work, both the singing and her acting and she is a vision on the silver screen. All eyes are on her; the scene works around her presence.

I had no idea she has PTSD, so as part of my journey of discovery, I wanted to reach out and see what her experiences are. Of course, I’m not expecting an invite for a cuppa and catch up, or a drink at the local. I think LA is too far for this, and she is probably busy this week. And every week, until the end of time.

But if you don’t ask, you don’t get. So, I did. The letter is on its First Class stamped journey across the pond to the Streisand Team. This time next year I could be playing alongside her in a remake of The Way We Were or clearing my pipes as a backing singer to Memories. I certainly have my own gold microphone, a gift from my sister for our walks and singing to the horses in fields we crossed. I can hit the low notes, Barbra the high, I would hoover up the scattered pictures, while dusting the corners of my mind.

In all seriousness, I send a positive affirmation that her team will take my letter to her and she will read it, and resonate with the shared experience of PTSD. Otherwise separated by social status, distance and lifestyle, there are commonalities. The humanity in us all regardless of fame, fortune or notoriety. I just hope my message to her transcends these and she replies. Better still I hope she writes a song for me or makes a film of my life and plays me, just a slightly older version.

Hope is everything. Reaching for the stars (in this case literally) should always be our goal. Anything is possible, I have learned this from creating my own website, and being now, more than halfway through my first book, having only started it 7 weeks ago.

If you want something, the change must come from within. You must become the change you want to see, you must shape your present so that you design your future. I am a full-time advanced practitioner, of 23 years and yet I am also creating a new world of writing. I never knew there was so much to write, I never knew there was so much creation inside me yet to be born. I have given life to a new dream. My dream, to raise the vibrations of this world, to bring hope, inspiration and transformation to everyone.

Did I mention I’ve also written to Prince Harry and am penning a letter to Lady Gaga? I’m probably not going to be able to attend the next Invictus games on account of my arthritic knee, when he invites me, and Gaga’s dance rehearsals are a bit much for my 50-year-old body, so will have to gently turn her down, when she extends an invite to her next video.

Watch this space.

When I’m living in LA, signing autographs, and rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous, nip me. I am likely dreaming. Never limit your dreams though, reach for the stars, aim high, there is no limit if you put the work in! I will spend my life putting the work in and I will always have hope and inspiration in my heart.
