Dear Grace
A journal entry to my Inner Child
I had to write to you today,
I can feel that you are struggling.
I can see just how brave you are being, silently carrying on.
You’ve learned so well, been trained to perfection,
To carry the load, ignoring the exhaustion
You never felt what it was like to be held,
You never heard the whispers of love and comfort
You had to make believe, carve out a fantasy escape
Somewhere to run to, away from the monsters
Your heart is filled with pain,
But your mind so young, no words to explain,
How could you know the neglect?
How can you receive love when all you felt was absence?
You don’t know this yet, because you are still so tiny,
But you’re all grown up in my world, and I’m standing here beside you
Can you feel the tickle of my hand as I cup your ear to tell you?
Of all the love I’ve saved you, in my embrace, waiting for you to come to.
Dear Grace, I hold you in this moment, taking all the pain,
I’m mending your heart with years of strength,
Beautiful scars, of hurt you carried, a Warrior you became.
Remember forever, no matter how hard,
Your heart burns with magic, a rare gift I guard,
As I wait for you to catch me up, search for me, I’m here, I’m ready,
You are loved, little girl, now more than ever.
Now take my hand and we’ll to step into our forever.
